Canon EOS 300D / Digital Rebel Photo Gallery
This page displays a few of my sample images from a Canon
EOS 300D (Digital Rebel) digital camera I got recently. I've owned a Canon 35mm EOS since
1991, and got my first digital camera in 2002. The model I got at the time - a 2.2
megapixel Kodak DX3600 convinced me that digital photography was the way forward, so I was
unable to resist a (relatively) affordable Digital EOS when it became available.
Click on a thumbnail to see a larger version
of that image. All images are reduced to 33% of their original 6.3 megapixel size (3072 x
2048 pixels). Some of the images have had a few minor adjustments in PaintShop Pro, such
as cropping, resizing and removal of the odd feature (such as people walking across the
middle of my landscape images!)

Wow! My first outing with the EOS and I encounter a
rainbow! Taken on an otherwise gloriously cold but sunny January afternoon between Dawlish
Warren and Dawlish, Devon, England.
1/250 sec, f11, ISO 100, 55mm. |

The beach at Dawlish Warren on a cold and sunny January
afternoon.
1/200 sec, f9.0, ISO 100, 22mm. |

Some sort of marker at the end of one of the groynes on
Dawlish Warren beach. The saturation of the colours is impressive, given that the image
was taken without a polariser.
1/200 sec, f11, ISO 100, 50mm. |

Some grasses growing in the sand dunes at Dawlish
Warren Nature reserve. Being able to set the picture's depth of field is a huge advantage
of using digital SLR compared to a compact.
1/250 sec, f5.6, ISO 100, 45mm. |

Despite the dark wintery conditions, the 75-300mm zoom
lens illustrates the potential of the 300D to capture great wildlife images.
1/40sec, f5.6, ISO 400, 300mm. |

Grey Squirrel. The fine detail of the squirrel's fur is
particularly impressive in this image.
1/125 sec, f5.6, ISO 400, 300mm. |

Canoeist battling the rapids in the River Exe in
Exeter, Devon. Another acceptable image, despite the dull overcast conditions on a January
afternoon.
1/1000 sec, f5.0, ISO 400, 155mm. |

St. Davids Church, Exeter, Devon. The camera gives
acceptable results even in low light conditions - this image was handheld. The church was
not floodlit - the light source is from surrounding street lights.
0.3 sec, f3.5, ISO 1600, 18mm. |

A Cormorant dries its wings after diving for fish in
the River Exe, Exeter.
1/640 sec, f5.0, ISO 400, 230mm. |

Another image of the Cormorant.
1/1000 sec, f5.6, ISO 400, 250mm. |

Torbay Road, Torquay on a January evening. The camera is well suited for
long, night time exposures.
30 secs, f22, ISO 100, 18mm. |

Close up of a pyritized ammonite lying in sand of
"fossil beach" at Stonebarrow, Charmouth,
Dorset. The fossil is about the same size as a five pence piece.
1/100, f7.1 ISO 100, 55mm. |
