What is HubPages.com?

If you've not seen HubPages before, it's basically just an article website like eHow or eZineArticles. It's totally free for you to join!

Once you've signed up to HubPages, you can write articles about pretty much any topic you're interested in. The articles are published on the site, and are surrounded by advertising.

Below is an article I wrote about Hello Kitty stuffed toys. I've circled the advertising in red.

If someone clicks on an advert on an article I wrote then I get paid some money via the Google AdSense programme. If someone buys a Hello Kitty plushie using the links in the "Popular Hello Kitty Plushies" panel then Amazon.com pays me commission on the sale price of that plushie (plus commission on anything else that person orders at the same time.)

You get to keep 60% of the advertising revenue from each of your articles on the HubPages website. We could be talking big money here - some of the best HubPages writers make over $1000 every month! Many make at least $250 a month.

I love article writing. If you write about topics that don't go out of date then your articles can make money year after year. This type of income is called passive income. Once you've written your articles they earn you money for no additional time and effort.

If your articles are good then you'll also find that they become even more popular over time. Below is a chart that shows how the number of article views have increased to some of my IT related articles on brettb.com over time.

I thought that getting 200 visits a day in 2005 was good. But by the beginning of 2010 the articles were getting 800 visits a day!

By January 2010 these articles had earnt me a total of £160 through Google AdSense. This is useful extra money. Best of all, these same articles are still earning money today!

How to make even more money online

I'll let you into a secret. Those articles I've just described have made a lot more than £160. I wrote them to market my business software, which costs between $49.95 and $249.95. Each of these 25 articles has sold at least one of these products a year. If you do the math again then you'll realise that article marketing is immensely profitable. The articles were very easy to write - some are only 200 words long, and none took more than 30 minutes to write!

Don't worry if you're not a computer programmer - it's easy to make your own products to sell online. eBooks are good sellers. Actually, if you can't be bothered with this then don't worry - it's just as lucrative to market other people's products! There are hundreds of affiliate marketing programmes that you can sign up to and they give you commission on any products or services that people buy after reading your articles on HubPages.

ClickBank is just one of the many lucrative affiliate schemes available online. There are loads of $39.95 eBooks and other digital products on ClickBank that will pay you 60% commission or more if you generate sales for the vendor. 60% of $39.95 is just under $24 - for a single purchase!

By now you're probably thinking that HubPages.com is going to make you some serious cash! Have you thought of what you could do with an extra few hundred dollars a month? Take a vacation? Redecorate the house? Pay down debts? Buy something nice for the kids?

What's the catch?

Well in truth, it's more difficult to make money online than it looks. Maybe you've already tried other schemes. Maybe you've experienced failure? I've been there and done that!

Thankfully I have put a LOT of effort into finding out the secrets of making money from HubPages. I have published over 200 articles on the site, so I know exactly what makes money, and what's a total waste of time. Get my guide and you'll learn from my mistakes.

It took me a while to get some visitors to my articles, but in June 2010 I had cracked it! By the end of July 2010 I was hitting 800 page views a day! I live in the UK, so I get paid in pounds sterling. Multiply the earnings by 1.6 to get rough US dollar values. I now earn money every single day from my HubPages. I earn money while I'm asleep, watching TV and going shopping.

I've only been using Hubpages for 8 months. Some of the more established writers are making well over $1000 every single month from their articles.

Already I'm currently making around $120 a month, and my income is growing rapidly as I get better at writing money making articles. Here's my daily HubPages AdSense income as reported in Google Analytics:

While a few extra pounds a day might not seem much, I'll assure you that it's more impressive than it looks, because:

• This income is based on 250 HubPage articles I wrote over a 6 month period. The more articles you write the more money you make. Simple as that. If you write just one article a day then that's 1095 articles in 3 years.
• When I first signed up to HubPages I wrote about all kinds of topics. Many of my first articles were total failures. By contrast, most of the articles I wrote in July 2010 are already making money. In my guide I explain *exactly* how to do the research in order to ensure you don't write articles that flop.
• If an article earns just $2 a month over 5 years then that's $120 for around an hour's work!
• Most members of HubPages have found that their income from the site accelerates over time.
• AdSense isn't the only way of making money on HubPages - affiliate marketing can be far more lucrative.

• It's really easy for you to get started! My brother managed to sign up and start writing on the site, and he has no previous experience of writing web pages.
• HubPages has its own built in word processor so you don't need any software. If you have a digital camera or video camera then you can really go to town on your articles!
• You can make money from HubPages.com in many different ways.
• You earn money from advertising clicks and product sales rather than getting paid per page view. This makes it much more lucrative to write about high paying subjects compared to similar sites such as Helium and Squidoo.
• HubPages has some seriously clever geeky technology behind it. This results in articles YOU write getting appearing high up in search engine search results without you needing to bother much with search engine optimisation (SEO) or back linking. Of course if you do know how to do some of this stuff then you'll do even better from your articles on HubPages!

Develop your online marketing skills

HubPages is a great place to improve your online marketing skills. The ability to make money is one of the most important skills you can ever acquire. Once you know how to make money then you become less reliant on your job, the economy and other people. You will love how much extra confidence your new money making abilities give you.

• HubPages has a Google PageRank of 6 and you'll find that your articles can get higher rankings in competitive niches than you would otherwise be able to achieve with your own blog or website.
• Advertising clickthrough rates on HubPages can be extremely high.
• Higher visibility in the search engine results pages and good CTR more than compensates for the 40% advertising cut that HubPages takes from your article revenue.
• You can use your existing Google AdSense, Amazon Associates, eBay and Kontera account ID's - you get paid by these programmes instead of by HubPages directly.
• HubPages supports Google Analytics, so you can get your hands on all of your traffic data and get loads of keyword ideas for new articles. It even integrates Google AdSense data so you can see CPM and CTR data for each of your articles.
